Local sailor and Club Member, Nick Thompson, is looking to secure a medal at this year’s Olympic Games in the Laser and to celebrate the first medal race in Rio, Youth Week is launching a unique competition - The Great British Olympic Sailing Bake Off.
 
The competition is open to all Members, Youth Week Competitors, Parents, Helpers and Wednesday Junior Sailors and will be judged on the 15th by Luke Matthews, Executive Head Chef at the Chewton Glen and Alexa ‘Lex’ Bartlett-Woodnett, a top pastry chef from the Pig Hotel.
 
The judges will be looking for show stopping bakes (cake, biscuits, tray bakes) with the WOW factor as well as delicious taste and texture in the following categories:
  • Ultimate Gold Medal Winning Olympic Cake Design
  • Podium Winning Best Design by A Sailor Under 12
  • Podium Winning Best Design by A Sailor Under 18
  • Olympic Design by Team / Family
  • Tasty Thompson Tray Bake

COMPETITION RULES
  • We are looking for delicious tasting cakes, biscuits or tray-bakes with an innovative decorative Olympic design theme.
  • Entries should be delivered to the Sail Loft at the RLymYC on Monday 15th August between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm.  
  • Each entry should be a total of 12 portions. (10 for the Olympic tea & 2 for judging)
  • 2 of each item will be used for the judges to taste. Please put these 2 items separately on a plate with a name label on the underneath of the plate.
  • No nuts to be included in any products.
  • Gluten Free entries are accepted.
  • Please ensure all items are fully baked.
