Promotional opportunities with Royal Lymington Yacht Club


We are grateful to the businesses and organisations that support Royal Lymington Yacht Club with sponsorship and advertising. A number of opportunities are available each year, including buoy sponsorship, event sponsorship and advertising in our printed publications. Supporting businesses also receive positive and far-reaching exposure on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn) and in our direct email communications.


Sponsorship opportunities with RLymYC


Buoy Sponsorship

The Solent is the premier yacht racing area in the UK. Many club, national and international events are run in the Solent involving thousands of sailors over the course of the year. All the yacht clubs around the Solent, not only RLymYC, frequently publish the buoys’ names and the buoys are used to identify the course by the racers. The sailors refer to them by name every time they race. 

Sponsor a RLymYC buoy out on the Solent and your business will give its brand name to the buoy for the season. Your named buoy will be recognisable to a large sector of the UK yachting and motorboating fraternity, positively enhancing your brand awareness and brand recognition.

Event sponsorship

Every year we have a number of opportunities to sponsor and become closely associated with a particular club event which could be social, racing, training or cruising. The Royal Lymington Yacht Club has many years of experience in jointly managing successful and beneficial partnerships with our sponsors.

Major sponsorships, such as race series, will carry the sponsor's name as the lead statement. This results in promotion throughout the club membership and via joint promotional programmes to the sponsor's customers and staff, to local media and to national yachting media. The club may also provide facilities for direct promotion to the membership and provide corporate hospitality facilities for the sponsor. Sponsorship values are arranged by discussion and will depend on the requirements of both the sponsor and the club.

Advertise in RLymYC publications

Our publications enable your business to advertise directly to the members of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club. Advertising in our printed publications provides you with an excellent opportunity to reach a niche target market. Our readers are householders and boat owners who purchase a wide range of goods and services, with many interests in addition to boating. Readership includes all genders and spans all ages; our advertising opportunities are certain to reach:
  • Over 2,200 members of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club
  • Approximately 1,800 households: 80% local to Lymington and district
  • More than 1,000 boat owners


PotterShip Magazine

A prestige keepsake publication produced annually, the PotterShip magazine is retained in members' homes and achieves considerable pass-on readership. It is circulated to other major yacht clubs, class associations and yachting organisations worldwide. A full-cover A4 coffee table book, PotterShip recalls the racing, cruising and social happenings of Royal Lymington Yacht Club in the previous year. Published in January. Premium cover positions are available as advertising space.


The Members' Handbook

An annual book of members' contact details, boat names and useful sailing data including tide tables. This is an essential document for all RLymYC members which is constantly referred to at home and onboard throughout the year. Published in March, colour and mono advertising space is available throughout the publication.


Sailing and Powerboating Programme

A pocket size booklet which details all racing events in the coming year. It is mailed to all members and retained for reference throughout the season from March to December. Published in January, one advertising space is available on the back cover.
