The Royal Lymington Cup will take place on 16/17 July 2016 in the Western Solent and Christchurch Bay.
The event is a new exciting IRC Inter-Club Fleet Team Racing Championship for 2-boat teams with IRC ratings between 0.95 and 1.10 TCF. The nominated skipper for each yacht must be a full member of the club they are representing. Multiple entries from the same club are welcome. The yachts can be identical boats i.e. 2 x J109’s or two boats from anywhere within the rating band and can be either chartered of privately owned.
The winning club will have their name on the prestigious Royal Lymington Cup which was previously part of the World Match Racing series whose winners include; Thierry Peponnet, Marc Bouet, Sir Russell Coutts, Peter Gilmour, Chris Dickson, Peter Isler, Harold, Cudmore, Chris Law and many other famous sailors.
There will be a briefing for skippers on the Friday evening, 15 July 2016, at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club plus a reception for the crews. The nearby Dan Bran pontoon has been reserved for the event and a list of local accommodation will be provided. There will be a fun social programme in support of the regatta.
The racing will commence on Saturday 16 July 2016 with a series of races in the excellent sailing waters of Christchurch bay. On Sunday 17 July 2016 the races will be completed in the morning so that the Royal Lymington Cup can be awarded at lunchtime.
The Notice of Race and online entry, will be available by 1 January 2016 Entries are to be made by the teams competing.
