Annual Social Events

New year’s Day Brunch

An opportunity for a late breakfast / lunch on the 1st January from 1000 to 1430 hrs where tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks are available along with appropriate food items to get the body restarted after all that wild partying the night before.  Promotional glasses of bubbly will also be available!

Burns Night

An opportunity to celebrate Scotland’s most famous poet. The evening is an opportunity to dress up in national dress, black tie or lounge suit. We have a piper to lead you into dinner, and during the evening the Haggis will be addressed, the praises of Rabbie Burns will be sung and there will be a Toast to the Lassies & a Response to the Laddies (This part of the proceedings is there to entertain, not to bore).  A tot of whisky is included in the price and once the plates are cleared,  there follows a Ceilidh with a caller for some wild Scottish dancing until about 2300 hrs. This is usually held every year on the Friday or Saturday nearest the 25th January.

Cruising Dinner

The Annual Cruising Dinner is held towards the end of February. It is a chance to award prizes and for all to enjoy a convivial end to the last season and to look forward to the next. Dress code is Black Tie.

There is always a speaker usually on a naval theme; held on a Saturday evening close to 21st October. Dress code is Black Tie with Miniature Medals or Service Uniform.

Annual Dinner

An opportunity for the whole Club to celebrate another year, and an excuse to enjoy each other’s company in a convivial atmosphere before the winter sets in. This event has a speaker & the Club's most prestigious trophies will be presented including the Commodore's Cup. Held towards the end of November.  Dress code is Black Tie.

Christmas Buffet Party

The first weekend of December the Christmas Buffet Party kicks of the season with a bang!  Dress code is Christmassy of course! An opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit with your fellow Members where there will be a sumptious buffet, fun quiz games and a DJ to dance to the night away.

Christmas Grotto with Santa & Carols

Within 1 week of Christmas, and timed around 16:00ish the Club creates a Grotto and asks Father Christmas to hand out presents to all the children/grandchildren of the members. Father Christmas arrives by boat (as befits a Yacht Club) and is welcomed into the Club and accompanied by some elves upstairs into his grotto. The elves then marshal the small children in to see Father Christmas in discrete parcels. A separate chair is provided for the children and their parents are encouraged to accompany them, although not essential. After being assured that they have been “good children all year” a Christmas present is offered and happy children go skipping out of the grotto to show mummy and daddy what a lovely present they have received this year. There is no dress code except for Father Christmas and his elves.

Christmas Carols follows the Grotto at 18:00

Enjoy  some mulled wine and mince pies, and then sing some Christmas Carols along with our Choir to get us all in the mood for the festive season. Dress code is Christmassy.  A buffet supper will also be available from 17:00 for children & adults alike.

New Year’s Eve Party

See the New Year in with the Club with a four-course dinner including bubbly on arrival and a glass of the Champagne at Midnight. A band or a disco starts after the dinner up until closing time.  Dress code is Black Tie & cocktail dresses.
