RLymYC appoints Head Coach to boost performance of Junior and Youth sailors

We are very pleased to announce that Hugh Styles has been appointed as the new Head Coach for the Junior and Youth Fleets. This new role, made possible through the generosity of Club member Inger Fisch, will lead to the development of our Junior and Youth classes and will improve the structure of the coaching given, allowing our sailors to achieve their full potential.
Hugh was chosen following an extensive interview process, involving an extremely high calibre of applicant. We are all very pleased to welcome Hugh to the Club.

Hugh, who is Lymington based, has 25 years’ experience in coaching, mentoring and programme management. He has coached at all levels including the Olympics with the British sailing team for both the foiling Nacra 17 and Laser Radial classes. He was voted British Sailing Team's coach of the year in 2019. Having served on the RYA youth racing committee and been the head British coach to the youth worlds he brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the role.
We are very fortunate to be able to call on his experience to inspire our sailors at the Club. Hugh will start his role during October and will be working with the different fleets to build development programmes and to support our existing teams of coaches.
While the Head Coach role will primarily focus on sailors wanting to improve their racing performance, we are also conscious that we need to appeal to other sailors who want to spend time on the water and improve their overall skills. We are looking at how we can better link the existing Club activities to allow a programme for these sailors to be developed.  We hope to launch this in time for Easter 2021
