What is Junior Regatta?
Junior Regatta is a five day sailing event from Monday 13th August to Friday 17th August 2018 for young sailors aged 8 – 18 years.
What kind of races do we do?
A series of races over four days (Monday – Thursday), competing for Class prizes and trophies. On the final day there will be themed ‘fun’ racing for all fleets in the morning only.
What do I need to do if I do not have my own boat?
Places will be available in WJS Teras and Optimists for the event for children who regularly sail with the WJS scheme and for some visitors. From the 5th July you will be able to confirm your interest in joining the Regatta at WJS. To qualify for a WJS scow, both helms and crews must have attended WJS for at least 5 sessions during the season. All scows in the WJS Scow Flee must have a crew of 3 people and must NOT be helmed by a person who is, or has been a helm of an RYA National Intermediate, Junior or Youth squad boat. A dinghy place will be allocated depending on the level of the child’s experience and you will be asked to fill in the appropriate entry form (Yellow forms for helms and pink forms for crews.) and pay your fee of £100 for the week.
What kind of dinghies sail?
There will be four fleets:
Bronze Fleet
Both a racing and an instruction fleet for beginner optimist sailors
|
Silver Fleet
Less experienced helms in both Optimists and RS Teras
|
Gold Fleet
RS Tera Pro, Advanced Optimists, Laser 4.7, Laser Radials, RS Fevas, Cadets, RS Visions, 420, 29ers, PYS – Single Hander & PYS – Double hander.
|
