Winter Lecture by Colin van Geffen
On Wednesday 22nd November we're delighted to be welcoming Colin van Geffen to talk about 'Lawrence before and after Arabia'.
The Legend of Lawrence of Arabia is well documented, but what of his life before and after the Desert War? Described as one of the most influential Englishmen of the 20th Century – but he wasn’t English! There are many myths, but the truth is far more fascinating. Lawrence spent some of his earlier years as well as part of his earlier life in our area although he never remained in one place for long. ‘
Colin Van Geffen lived in Lymington until his mid-twenties and was actively involved in a number of organisations in the town. He spent over thirty years in industry specialising inn Materials Management, Procurement and Production Control. Hé is now a self-employed illustrator and artist and has given many illustrated talks on cruise ships and to other organisations. Ten of his paintings were presented to the Red Arrows as prints and he also has given numerous live broadcasts on Solent Radio.
