Winter Motorboat Lecture by Luke McEwen
On Thursday 23rd November we're delighted to be welcoming the Club's Captain of Dinghies, Luke McEwen.
As the global shipping industry wakes up to its contribution to climate change, harnessing the power of the wind is becoming a crucial tool for reducing emissions. Several top Lymington sailors are now working on different solutions to this challenge. Luke’s talk will reveal some of the interesting ideas in development and how these are becoming a reality.
Luke is a keen dinghy and keelboat sailor who has worked on America’s Cup yachts and is now the Technical Director at Anemoi, designing and building giant sails to reduce emissions from some of the world’s biggest ships. Luke and his wife Emma sailed around the world in their Tradewind 35 Eagle Wing and race their RS800 with many titles to their name.
The lecture will start at 18:30 prompt, so we recommend you arrive in good time to get a drink from the bar to take to your seat in the Island Room. If you are booked for supper, it will be served in the River Room after the lecture, please sit where you wish.
