Hinxman Trophy

Tuesday 28th May 2019

Winners Catherine Maguire and Kat Van Soweren

The Hinxman Trophy event was run on a glorious evening with wind from the North West, windspeed dropped from a peak of 20 knots during the day to a pleasant 9-15 knots for our racing. We managed to complete the three races with only one capsize and some very tight racing, then back for prize giving and Supper.
The Trophy Winners were Catherine Maguire and her crew Kat Van Soweren in Splinters.

Alexina Trophy

Tuesday 11th June 2019

Winners Rory and Alex Paton
14 boats set out for the Alexina Trophy race. The wind was from the north, Vince set us a course into the shore in winds of 10-12kts gusting to 16kts. There was a lot of confusion on the starts with a few port v starboard issues, which I could see clearly from my position at the back. The first beat required an eye on the tide to avoid being swept pass the windward mark. There was fierce competition througout the fleet with many boat to boat tussels going on.

Sunday 23rd June 2019

Fig of 8 Single handed Winner
Mike Unrwin

Fig of 8 Double Handed Winners
Rory & Alex Paton

A great figure of eight race, saw 18 boats. A good mix of single and double handed sailors. Some great battles across the fleet and always daring to go closer to the islands without running aground.
As always the tea was spectacular. A great end to a fabulous sail.

Scow Inter-Club Challenge

Sunday 8th September 2019

The Winning Team - R Lym Seniors
We thought we were lucky with the weather clear bright and wind at 12:00 but by the time we ready to go racing at 14:00 the wind was fluky and swinging from North to South West. The first race got under way with a NW wind but once half the fleet got round the windward mark the wind dropped and went SW giving them a second beat to the wing mark, thats dinghy racing.
After a delay the wind settled in the South West at about 9 knots so good racing in a sparkling sunlit sea for the final two races.
Taking part in the event were:
Hurst Castle SC
Keyhaven YC
Oxford & Cambridge Sailing Society
RLymYC older team
RLymYC younger team
Yarmouth SC
