Programme of Sail and Motor Cruising and Suppers

All Club members are very welcome at these events, whether they have a sailing boat, motor boat or no boat at all. Those wishing to crew, or those seeking crew, should contact the event organiser or the Captain of Cruising. If you'd like to get involved, but don't know how, then please come along on one of our Day Cruises or to one of our informal Cruising Suppers to get to know us, see the detailed programme below.

Day cruises

These popular monthly events are designed for sail, motor or RIBs and are on various days of the week, including weekends. They run all year round and are timed to suit the tides. Our cruises are often to a pub or yacht club for lunch, or perhaps to a suitable location for a picnic. Day cruises typically take a couple of hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, beginning with a briefing in the Club at 0900. The year's programme is shown below, full details are posted on the Club Noticeboard and Website up to four weeks ahead,as well as included in the weekly On the Water email to Members.

If you'd like to try one of these day cruises but don't know a skipper, contact the cruise organiser, who will endeavour to find you a crewing position for the day.

Longer cruises

Our programme also includes cruises over two or more days (often called Meets), sometimes held over weekends. They typically involve a pontoon party on one evening and an informal supper at a local restaurant or yacht club on another. How long you stay during these events is up to you, just coming for one day is fine. Wherever possible, boats are berthed close together to assist in socialising.

During June we arrange a long weekend Meet in Cherbourg for those cruising the Channel or West France, leaving it to individual skippers to choose their own subsequent itineraries. Thus, those who wish to meet up for meals, or to exchange local knowledge or to cruise in company, can do so.
Once a year, we also usually arrange a charter cruise. This involves skippers chartering sail or motor boats in the chosen cruising area somewhere in the world, away from Lymington.
As with day cruises, full details of all events and booking forms are posted on the Club Noticeboard up to four weeks ahead, emailed to Members and posted on the website.

Cruising Suppers

These informal events are held mostly during the winter months, in the Club. They are an opportunity for all Members to keep in touch with what's going on in Cruising, to socialise and to give feedback to the Cruising sub Committee. Attendance sign-up sheets are posted on the Club board up to four weeks ahead and details are also circulated by email and through the website.
