Matching sailors with members looking for crew
Fancy racing on a boat this summer, but don't know how to get involved...?
On Saturday 3rd June 2023 we will be holding our Crew Match from 10:00 to 12:00 in the bar. Find out more about RLymYC and how you could join us out on the water in 2023!
Come and meet RLymYC skippers who are looking for crew in the 2023 season, find out about their boats and events at which you could sail and enjoy a coffee in the Royal Lymington Yacht Club bar. We welcome complete beginners as well as more experienced crew.
‘Crew Match’, not quite the nautical equivalent of speed dating, is a relaxed and informal event with ample time for people to match their sailing experience, level of knowledge and racing ambition with club members looking for crew.
RLymYC Commodore, Michael Derrick, said: “Anyone interested in boating is encouraged to come along to our Open Day and Crew Match Morning. You don’t have to be a member of a sailing club, just keen to participate in our sport. Crew Match introduces the inexperienced but keen sailor to the right team. Many skippers are happy to train those with no sailing experience but genuine enthusiasm. I’m delighted to say that we have had a successful ‘match score’ over the years with many still competing in our Spring Series and Thursday Night Racing.
We will also be showcasing other aspects of life at the Royal Lymington, both on and off the water, so to find out more about the club please come along.
”Being part of a crew requires no financial outlay apart from some waterproof kit. On the water competition is always taken seriously but the camaraderie and prize giving back in the bar afterwards is an equally important part of events.
Potential crew may register on the RLymYC crew register, visit our Crew Match page and leave a message.
Non-Members are welcome!
Whilst at the Club, visit our Open Day, taking place in the Island and Needles Rooms from 10:00 - 14:00 and find out more about sailing and motorboating in Lymington.
Everyone is welcome and no prior boating experience is required to join the RLymYC and take part in the huge number of activities on offer. Representatives from many areas of the club will be on hand during the Open Day to show visitors around and a selection of members’ boats will be available to view.
