RLymYC 2024 Youth Week

Monday 19th August - Thursday 22nd August 2024

Youth Week is back!!  A four-day programme packed to the brim with fun for all.
 
Whether you are an experienced sailor wishing to be out there racing in the Gold Fleet or a first timer in the Bronze Fleet learning the ropes, having fun while being supervised.



In a positive display of community spirit, the Royal Lymington Yacht Club are also thrilled to announce a partnership fpor this year's event with Walhampton School. This exciting collaboration stems from a longstanding relationship between the two institutions, forged through a shared passion for sailing and youth development. Over the years, Walhampton School has witnessed many of its students transition into active sailors, fostering a deep connection between the school and the sailing community.

Programme of events

Below is the program of events for the week:
 
Sunday, August 18th
  • 14:00 - Club Boat Registrations Open
  • 16:00 - All Volunteers Briefing in the Island Room at the club, with coffee and sticky buns for everyone!
 
Monday, August 19th
  • From 08:45 - Breakfast Rolls available
  • 09:00 - Race Management Meeting - Island Room
  • 09:30 - Safety Briefing - Bar & River Room
  • 10:00 - Competitor Briefing for all fleets on the South Side of the Clubhouse. Individual briefings for Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Scow fleets will follow.
  • 18:00 - Hog Roast and Games at the Club
 
Tuesday, August 20th
  • From 08:45 - Breakfast Rolls available
  • 09:00 - Race Management Meeting - Island Room
  • 09:30 - Safety Briefing - Bar & River Room
  • 10:00-12:00 - Walhampton Swim, Play, and Coffee Morning – REGISTER HERE
    • For siblings or children who aren’t competing: Activities include swimming in the outdoor pool and games on the lawn. A lifeguard will be present, but children aged 6 and under must have a parent/adult in the water with them. Swim nappies should be worn as appropriate.
    • Tea, coffee, and light refreshments will be available. Feel free to bring a picnic rug and nut-free snacks.
  • After racing: Paddleboard fun, swimming races, and tea & cake for competitors.
 
Wednesday, August 21st
  • From 08:45 - Breakfast Rolls available
  • 09:00 - Race Management Meeting - Island Room
  • 09:30 - Safety Briefing - Bar & River Room
  • 18:00 - BBQ and Disco
 
Thursday, August 22nd
  • From 08:45 - Breakfast Rolls available

  • Approx. 10:00 - Olympic Themed Fun Day
  • Approx. 15:00 - Prize Giving
 
We will also be running our usual Tuck Shop under the forecourt all week. The Tuck Shop will be cashless and will operate with tokens. You can purchase tokens online or at the Club reception.

Event Messaging System

In addition to the Official Notice Board, the Organising Authority may send messages to competitors and support persons via the Event Messaging System, Telegram.
 
Telegram is similar to WhatsApp but has better privacy (phone numbers are not public), it does not limit groups to 150 people and allows new arrivals to see existing messages.
