WJS is open to local young people between the ages of 8 and 18. You do not need to be a member of the Club to attend. In our nurturing environment sailors work at their own pace following our card scheme which it turn leads to RYA qualifications, from Stage 1 through to Instructor level. Recent major studies have shown an ever increasing amount of additional benefits in social and personal development through sport and physical activity. These positive effects are amplified in challenging sports. Six key character attributes that relate directly to sailing are; teamwork, determination, communication, independence, confidence and creativity. So come along, its about so much more than just sailing! We run two sessions every Wednesday afternoon (weather permitting) between late April and the end of September. As well as the water activities sailors will get the use of a buoyancy aid and enjoy a hot drink and doughnut. There are two 2-hour sessions: 14:00-16:00 and 16:00-18:00. Children are expected to stay for the full 2-hour session.
We understand that your time is precious, and realistically not every parent/guardian can be here all the time, but without the help of volunteers WJS would not run. So we ask all parents/guardians to give some time, whatever your skill set. We look forward to seeing you there to join the fun!
